1. alternative
【考點】alternative既可以作形容詞，也可以作名詞。
作形容詞時，只能作定語，用于名詞之前，意為：①非傳統(tǒng)的，另類的；②可供替代的。如：
Electricity companies were blamed for failing to develop alternative energy sources.
Do you have an alternative solution to the problem?
作名詞時，意為“可供選擇的事物”。如：
We had no alternative but to fire Jesse.
There is a vegetarian alternative on the menu every day.

2. select
【考點】select既可以作動詞，也可以作形容詞。
作動詞時，意為“選擇，挑選， 選拔”。常用結(jié)構(gòu)為：select sb. / sth. as / for sth.; select sb. / sth. from sth.; select to do sth.。如：
All our hotels have been carefully selected for the excellent value they provide.
They selected the winner from six finalists.
He was selected to play for Australia at the age of only 18.
作形容詞時，意為“精選的，作為……精華的，優(yōu)等的”。如：
Only a select few have been invited to the wedding.

selective adj. 選擇性的，有選擇的，認(rèn)真挑選的，嚴(yán)格篩選的
